How to solve or understand common issues with the app e.g. are you seeing old notifications?
Common Issues
Problem: I am seeing Old notifications on my phone (e.g. about bin collection from a month ago).
Simple answer: Swipe them away, or open the app (this should clear all old notifications from version 2.04.40 onwards).
Longer Answer: It helps to understand how notifications work on phones. Notifications get added when something happens e.g. you receive an SMS or missed call. And then they are removed in two ways:
-When you swipe them away, or use the clear button on your phone.
– When you open the app responsible for creating notifications, the app can decide which ones should no longer be visible. (e.g. notifications vanish for missed calls which you have ‘seen’, or SMS which you’ve “read”). In Bin Days Edinburgh app we’ve set it up that all old notifications should vanish when you open the app.
So if you are seeing old bin notifications, click one of them to open the app – this should clear all notifications for you.
It’s just how notifications work on phones, and there’s not much we can do about it. Thanks for your understanding.

Give us as much details as possible, and leave your email address if possible, so we can reach back to you for more details. We have at least 5 issues which we could not investigate and solve because we did not have enough info.
Example good issue would be:
Don’t just say “Banana street” has wrong dates.
Instead say: “Banana street” in the app does not show glass recycling. But it is picked un on every other Thursday, last time 13 August. It is missing on council website too. (or it is there on council website, look www.edin…)
